You know how there are some systems that companies use that must seem like a good idea for those developing them, but completely baffling to anyone who might actually use the system? Aside from a Microsoft rant, I shall quickly query the bizarre nature of my bank. I have just moved, and want to update my details online. It tells me that I can update these quite easily, very simple, as simple and easy as 123. But when I get there I can't actually change my address until I've activated SMS banking. WTF do I need SMS banking for? Oh, that's right, I don't need it, but the company wants me to have it so that they can keep tabs on me and send me useless shit. Groovy. Whatever, I was willing to let that slide. Instead, they have an old and very outdated phone number of mine that I can't even remember having (I must have gotten rid of that phone 8 years ago and never thought to update my bank details). The fuckers won't let me change my address until I've proven that I'm still using the ancient phone number, and nor will they let me update my phone number. Instead I need to call them during office hours or go into a branch and do it myself. Lovely. What happened to the simple method of online banking, where I didn't have to call someone during office hours or go into a branch and do it myself? Grrrr.
In other news I made excellent chili con carne tonight.
