One of the following will hopefully kill me

I guess I have returned to uni. How else could I explain a Venezuelan eco-socialism flyer on my desk that I picked up out of curiosity. Although the club is run by a guy named Hamish, so that just lots points.

Now, it’s something of a shame, but it’s taken me 2.5 years to finally become a good uni student. Admittedly I was pretty good over the first 1.5 years, and then became woefully lazy thanks to Spain.

As the end comes near (and by ‘end’ I sincerely hope that it will be death-by-snoo-snoo), I imagine that over the next couple of months coffee is going to be my best friend. It may be the only thing that will get me through all of this work that I have to do. Granted, I’m in my final semester and that’s when the shit really gets going, and I’m not complaining about my workload, mostly because I plan on going full-steam ahead and start on those pesky essay’s and end-of-semester assignments now (it’s the middle of the first week).

My plan is flawless. My plan minus coffee is a far-fetched notion of insanity. So when you look at this, please go and get your coffee-goggles and you’ll appreciate that this is all possible.

I have two literature subjects this semester, one with 5 books (and each of them will be used on an open-book exam, so I need to buy and read them all), and the other literature subject has 6 books (though I can probably get away with reading just two of them without it affecting my grades or bank account too much, though I may strike up a deal with Jules to see if we’ll swap and borrow books).

That 6 book subject has a pretty sweet appeal to it (despite me not knowing or liking any of the books (since I’ve only read the blurbs): if Jules and I get our act together it is possible to have the entire subject and assessment wrapped up and DONE by the end of week 4. Hell, I could probably do it by the end of week 3 if I was determined enough. Afterall, I have a presentation, the write up of the presentation (which if I do in week 3 I’ll get sympathy marks for going first) and then an essay by the end of week 12. So, I could write the essay this weekend if I wanted to (and I’m certainly starting the research tonight). So, one subject down within two more weeks (ideally).

The other subjects are also fairly essay-heavy, with only one subject that has an exam at the end of the semester. So while I have a lot of free-time now I might as well crack on and get as much done as possible. So this week that includes working on two presentations and their write-ups, starting two essays which requires reading three books, and that’s only this semester’s worth. I also have to submit all of that exchange crap from the last year, and I have to go over a lot of the notes and deal with a Spanish exam as well in regards to my time abroad. That’s going to require a lot of paperwork, and has to be done tonight.

And then I get to apply for uni in Melbourne while getting all of those criteria components out of the way. And: edit a couple of books and figure out what to do about sending them off (I’m not saying that the submission will also be this weekend, because as much of a friend as coffee is, it would have to be as potent as a speed/cocaine/wild-sex-with-Tera-Patrick combo for me to consider doing all of that now (mental note: invent a speed/cocaine/wild-sex-with-Tera-Patrick coffee combo and retire a ludicrously happy guy)). Plus, I have a subject that is entirely in Spanish, and need to brush up on my skills (especially debating skills, since that’s one of the assessment pieces).

So, time to stop blogging, time to start researching.

I'm interested to know what the books are.
