I had my Italian exams today, and maaaaaaaaan you should've felt the euphoria as I left the room, never to return to that hellish hellhole hell. Whether I passed or not is a mystery. First I had the oral with Vicky, we were in pairs having a conversation, badly, and I think the requirements are far too demanding for a first semester language course. But I'm saying that because I'm bitter. Next up was the written and cheating was rampant. When the teacher was called over a couple of times to answer a question, and her back was turned, there were plenty of heads looking at each other and checking everyone else's page. This didn't even stop when the teacher returned to her table. I was at the very back, so I saw everything, and tests were being passed from one person to the next so that they could copy the answers. I saw open notes, open textbooks and open dictionaries, which was great.
I honestly have no idea how I did. I answered all of the questions, but whether I got them right or not is a mystery. And whether I understood the question correctly is something else, because we've all answered what we thought was asked, but reality has a way of turning it against us.
I came home and made truffles.
Last night was the Italian twins' birthday, which was fun. I was the first to arrive but they live with 4 roommates, and I didn't know that, and I wondered why I was getting a lot of attention, since they were all asking questions of me, and I thought it must have been my animal magnetism. But no, it was because I was the only guest and didn't realise it. I was also talking to one of the twins for ages and didn't realise that I had her confused with her sister. That can be tough.
I also realised that I live too far away. It took almost 2 hours to get home, but that was just the luck with the metro, since it was winding up for the night and I had to wait 10-15 minutes between each connection. I gotta learn the bus system, but doubt I will. With the bus you need to know landmarks and when to get off.
So now I'm kicking back with snacks and watching stuff. Yay for stuff. Stuff good.
